Area 6 is one of the six areas that make up Special Olympics Nebraska. Area 6 consists of Douglas, Sarpy, Cass and Washington counties. Area 6 has teams in Blair, Plattsmouth, Elkhorn and throughout the Omaha metro area. The Area has in excess of 1000 athletes and Unified Partners.

Area 6 provides year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic type sports. Area 6 provides competition at all ability levels by assigning athletes to "competition divisions" based on sex, age and actual performance and/or preliminary heats. In this way, whatever division an athlete is placed in, they have a chance to advance to State, National or International Games.
